Game On

Well, for those of you who read my Monday Night post, you know that I attended both my first Monday Night Football AND Steelers game last night as they took on the Kansas City Chiefs. After the gorgeous weekend we were blessed with, I couldn't wait to throw on jeans, boots and a jacket, and head over to Heinz Field to watch a great football game!

Wrong. So very, very wrong. What started off as a beautiful Monday full of hope and excitement, quickly turned into a soggy, frigid Monday night full of wind that could send even the best tailgating tent flying. But I would not give up! Bundled in about five layers, my co-workers and I trudged over to the tailgating lot, and were overjoyed to find that we were quite well set up with an RV stocked with a full bar, and the heat turned all the way up.

After a few hours of eating, thawing, chatting and drying, we were ready to head over! And, though I'm not a Steelers fan, I was excited! I love getting caught up in the droves of fans pouring into a stadium filled with spirit and anticipation, no matter where it might be (ok, except for probably Yankees Stadium).

We made it!

It's amazing what a little good old-fashioned competition can do on a rainy night. By the time we reached our seats, my blood was pumping, I was ready for some football, and I hardly noticed the fact that the rain had slowly begun to freeze into the mother of all weather pesks - "Wintry Mix".

With seats like these, who cares?

Even better? I got way more than I had bargained for with the Chiefs in town - it was a great game that went down to the wire, with a game-winning Steelers field goal ending it in overtime. Against the Chiefs? Really? But I digress.

Now to address the important item that I was consumed by in my original Monday Night post - outfit selection. Well, I just couldn't bring myself to wear any form of Steelers attire, and I wasn't about to wear anything signalling that I might be routing for the Chiefs (not that I own apparel from either side), so I kept it neutral with black jackets (yes two), jeans, brown boots and a yellow scarf. My friends were overjoyed to see that I had finally come to my senses and decided to root for the home team... until I politely informed them that the Chiefs wear yellow as well :)

Everything considered, a wonderful night - rain and all!

Also, I'm linking up with Jessica and Haley for their Tea on Tuesday Social Hop! Welcome to my blog, newcomers!
